In the moment

The cover image is a picture I saw on Reddit a few days ago, which touched me deeply.

This year's college entrance examination has officially ended, and after filling out the volunteer form at the end of the month, we can wait for the admission notice. Coincidentally, my younger sister also took the college entrance examination this year, and I sincerely feel happy for her. On the one hand, congratulations to her for successfully passing this challenging stage of high school, and more importantly, I hope her upcoming university life will be colorful and broaden her horizons. I remember when I graduated from the college entrance examination, I made a wish to myself: after making friends in college, I would visit the homes of classmates from other provinces during every vacation to see a broader world. Due to well-known reasons, my vacations basically consisted of staying at home every day, even crossing cities required permission, let alone crossing provinces. It is truly regrettable.

I am a relatively lazy person. If I can avoid moving, I won't move. As a result, I have some unhealthy weight due to my laziness. Perhaps because of my laziness, traveling did not have a strong appeal to me when I was a child (even in junior high and high school). I always felt that scenery was the same everywhere: mountains, water, forests. What's the point of traveling? So now I always have a feeling that taking children on a trip is basically a waste of time, energy, and money. It's better to spend quality time with children, engage in sports, and so on. The meaning of travel for me now is far from what it was in my childhood. Each place has its own local customs and the people are definitely the most typical scenery of every city, aside from the attractions. The main purpose of my travels now should be to experience the culture (and local cuisine). Of course, this is only my current feeling, and the purpose of travel will change with age. I can't say what it will become in the future. Perhaps there are extraordinary children who can feel the charm of culture from a young age. Congratulations to you for having such a treasure, hurry up and take your child on a trip!

The journey of Links taught me that "the wonders of the world are often found in remote and dangerous places, where few people venture." Every video he produces is a masterpiece, to the point that I often feel the urge to go mountain climbing after watching them. On the other hand, Xiao Zhong's videos truly allow me to experience the charm of language and culture, and even gave me an idea: after learning a language, reward myself with a trip to a country where I can communicate with the locals. Because communication with the locals is essential for a perfect cultural experience. If there are communication barriers, the rewards of travel will be greatly reduced. This is a goal I set for myself, and if I can achieve it, I may look back on my life with satisfaction in my old age...

Nowadays, my university life is almost coming to an end, and I can say that I am not satisfied with these years. Although I have the right to, I don't want to attribute everything to external factors. I hope that in the remaining time, I can think and do what I want.

For all friends who are about to enter college, I have one piece of advice for you: listen more, observe more, speak less, and do less. I hope my advice can help you.
